ELIGIBILITY
All sailing yachts should have a full keel, be of heavy to moderate displacement, built of wood or steel and be of traditional rig and appearance. Old craft using modern materials such as epoxy or glass sheathing, or new craft built along the lines of an old design, are acceptable. Vessels built of ferro-cement may be accepted if they have a gaff or traditional schooner rig. Fiberglass yachts must have a full, long keel with a keel-hung rudder and be a descendant of a wooden boat design. Yachts not fitting into the above categories may apply in writing with documents and photographs or drawings to support their request for entry. All entries are subject to approval by the Committee, whose decision is final.
ENTRIES
Yachts unknown to the Regatta must complete a Pre-Entry Form (available on our website) and submit it along with Photographs or drawings of hull and rig for approval before receiving an Official Entry Form. Information and Official Entry Forms are available from the Antigua Yacht Club - see section 19. Completed forms, entry fee and any requested documentation should be returned to the Secretary no later than 1st April 2009.
Entry Fees:
US$5.00 per foot of the length on deck if paid by 1st April 2009
Late Entries (after 1st April): US$10.00 per foot if paid after April 1st 2009.
No entries will be accepted after Friday 10th April unless authorised by the Committee. CSA members will receive a 5% discount before 1st April. Please enter early!
REGISTRATION
All Captains must register to confirm arrival and receive important information. The Registration Desk is located upstairs in the Yacht Club and will be open from 09:00 to 17:00 hrs on Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th April only.
RULES
Racing will be governed by the current ISAF Rules of Sailing. CSA Safety Rules will apply. The Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta is a Class A event.
PUBLICITY
No publicity or advertising is allowed.
COURSES
Courses are approximately 24 miles, with the first start at 10:00 hrs. Starts and Finishes are immediately outside English Harbour, Antigua.
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing Instructions will be issued at the Skippers Briefing on Thursday 15th April at 17:00 hrs.
MEASUREMENT AND RATINGS
All measurements must be given on the Entry Form, with attached sail declaration. A Classic Simplified CSA Rating will be issued for each yacht. Spirit of Tradition yachts must obtain a CSA Measurement Certificate from the Measurer and submit it with their Entry Form.
CLASSES
All yachts will be divided into Vintage Class, Classic Class, Traditional Class, Spirit of Tradition Class, and Tall Ships, according to year of build and type. Each class will be divided into groups of similar boats as much as possible.
SCORING
A low points scoring system will be used, rule A4 will apply, as well as RR 44.3. All races completed will constitute a series.
PRIZES
Prizes and/or trophies will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners in each group and for First Overall and Best Elapsed Time. Excellence and effort will also be recognised in such categories as 'Spirit of the Regatta', 'Best Dressed Crew', 'Most Photogenic Yacht' and more!
PRIZE GIVING
The Prize Giving Ceremony and Party will be held on the evening of Tuesday 21st April at a location to be announced.
DOCKAGE
Some sponsored dockage days are promised at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina and Nelson's Dockyard. Details will be available at Registration.
CONCOURS D'ELEGANCE
All entries are automatically entered into the Concours d'Elegance on Thursday 15th April.
SOCIAL EVENTS
Social events will include a Welcome Party, Owner's Party, Concours d'Elegance Prize Giving, Parade of Classics, Gig Racing and Cream Teas on the lawn of the Admiral's Inn, Musical Night, Prize Giving Ceremony in Nelson's Dockyard and more. A detailed schedule will be available at the Skippers Briefing and on Regatta notice boards.
SINGLE-HANDED RACE
A single-handed race will take place at a date to be determined.
RESPONSIBILITY
The responsibility to race is the sole decision of the Captain of the yacht, and the yacht, its owners, crew, or heirs will not hold the organizers or sponsors responsible for any misfortune to the yacht or its crew by participating in The Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta.
