Tall Ships

The Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta Tall Ships World Peace Cup Competitions held each year since the first races in 1988, the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta has grown to a worldwide and world-class sailing event. Each April eligible crafts are invited to join the international fleet of yachts and tall ships competing in the waters off Antigua. The goals of the regatta are to maintain classic and professional seamanship and to reach out to trainees, multinational crews and passengers of the world's great sailing ships in a friendly competition on Antigua's beaches and race courses. The accumulating point system leads to 12 awarded trophies and one overall - The Tall Ships World Peace Cup, a crystal globe, hand-blown in Newport RI, USA. Since the tall ships class was established in 1988 HMS Rose, Highlander Sea, Westward, Aquarius, Mandalay, Fleurtje, Bel Espoire, Sir R.B. Powell, Irene, Insulinde, Eye of the Wind, Stavros S. Niarchos, Tenacious, Zenobe Gramme, Sea Cloud and Star Clipper have raced in Antigua. We are trying to get many of the other tall ships to Antigua as well. Antigua is the sailing centre of the West Indies and offers all facilities a sailing vessel needs. The weather allows sail training to continue during the winter months when vessels based in Europe might normally be laid-up "waiting" for sunshine in May. Sailing in and out of Falmouth Harbor is always a great moment due to the perfect wind conditions straight at the mouth of the harbor. Docks and anchorages are available in and around Falmouth Harbor. You are cordially invited to participate each year in the middle of April in the TSWPC Competitions.
Tall Ships is a registered trade mark and service mark owned by ASTA.
